Peter DeVita passed away on November 6, 2013 from respiratory and cardiac illness. Peter was 89 years old and resided in Port Jefferson Station, New York.
Peter was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on September 11, 1924 as the only child of Giuseppe DeVita and Antonina DiGirolomo. His parents emigrated from Marsala, Sicily. Peter tragically lost his father as a teenager. As a young man during WWII, Peter volunteered to serve in the military (he was exempt from the draft being the only child of a widow) and proudly served as a US Marine in the Pacific. After serving his country, Peter spent most of his career as an aircraft inspector for Grumman Aerospace on Long Island.
Peter is survived by his wife Anna of 65 years, and their four children, Joseph, Vincent, Annette and Peter, as well as their four granddaughters and four grandsons ranging in age from 35 years to 4 months old.
