Sister Mary Lorraine Struthers CIJ (Therese M. Struthers) was born in New Hampshire but raised in St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Brooklyn, NY. Sister Mary Lorraine graduated from Catherine Mc Auley High School in 1947. Sister entered the Congregation of the Infant Jesus in 1950. Following her Novitiate, Sister Mary Lorraine completed her training for her RN at St. Mary's Hospital in Brooklyn.
This was the beginning of a very rich, varied and fruitful ministry which spanned six decades.
Sister ministered in Home Care with the Nursing Sister Home Visiting Service, and as a School Nurse in Mary Louis Academy, in the Bahama Mission of the Congregation of the Infant Jesus, and as Director of Pastoral Care in the Parish of the Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Brooklyn. Sister earned her BS in Nursing from Downstate University Hospital, her MA in Theology and Certificate in Pastoral Care from Immaculate Conception Seminary, Huntington, NY. Sister is survived by her sister-in-law Madeline Struthers, four nieces and three nephews, several dear cousins and her beloved community - the Sisters of the Congregation of the Infant Jesus Nursing Sisters of the Sick Poor, Inc. The wake and Mass of the Christian Burial will be at Villa St. Joseph, Rockville Centre, NY.
